The Geotec Tube Erosion Restoration System material is fabricated by several major petroleum companies including Amoco, Texaco, and Phillips 66. It's original purpose was to stop asphalt from deteriorating. It is made in 15 foot wide widths up to lengths over 400 feet, For our use, the 15 foot roll is cut into either a 12 foot or 7 foot size. At this point our supplier, Rinker Material of Florida Inc. contracts to have the material folded and sewn to form the tube we apply. The main virtue of the Geotec Tube Erosion Restoration System material is that it allows water to seep through, yet stops sand, rock and soils from passing through. This characteristic along with very high tensile strength, provides for the ideal material for the Geotec Tube Erosion Restoration system application. ASR has a working relationship with engineers from the SFWMD through out the State of Florida. The Geotec Tube is constructed from the highest quality Polypropylene nonwoven geotextile sewn together to form a custom diameter tube. The tube is interconnected along the waters edge, then a small sand pump is used to fill the tube with the same sand and organic material that has been eroding into the lake or canal. The final result is a long lasting fully contained sand filter barrier that will stabilize the bank from erosion and filter rainwater and irrigation run off.
The Geotec Tube erosion barrier can be installed on any shoreline contour or stacked pyramid fashion to create a more substantial barrier to protect against soil erosion during heavy rains.
